Matsudaira Senchiyo (松平仙千代)
Senchiyo MATSUDAIRA (April 22, 1595 - March 21, 1600) was a member of samurai family in the Azuchi-Momoyama period. He was the eighth son of Ieyasu TOKUGAWA. His mother was a concubine, Sooin (Okame no kata) and his older maternal half-brother was Yoshinao TOKUGAWA, the founder of the Owari Tokugawa family. He was also called Senchiyo TOKUGAWA or Senchiyo HIRAIWA.
He was born in Fushimi and lived there until his age of four. He was reported to have been bright. He became the adopted heir of Chikayoshi HIRAIWA, one of the Sixteen Heavenly Generals of Tokugawa and Fuyaku (a warrior who educate the son of the Lord to become a great leader) through the good offices of Ieyasu who was concerned about Chikayoshi having no heir.
He move to the Kofu Domain, Kai Province and in 1599 to Osaka with his father in law, Chikayoshi who was transferred to other domain, but died in the next year. He died at the age of six. His posthumous Buddhist name is 高岳院殿華窓林陽大童子. His tombs are located in Kofu City, Yamanashi Prefecture, Tennoji Ward, Osaka City and Kogakuin cemetery in Heiwa Park in Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture.
